This is not only a significant event in our school’s student governance but also an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their leadership, organizational skills, and sense of responsibility. The Student Council acts as a vital bridge between the school administration and the student body, with the responsibility of organizing school-wide activities, enhancing campus culture, and serving the needs of fellow students. We invite all students who are eager to contribute to the school community to actively participate in this election, bringing fresh ideas and energy to the Student Council as we embark on another promising year together.
I. Responsibilities and Mission of the Student Council
The Student Council at Shenzhen SEG International School is committed to providing students with opportunities to showcase their talents, serve others, and enhance their overall development. The main responsibilities of the Student Council include:
- Representing Student Interests: Acting as the voice of the student body, gathering and communicating feedback from students to the administration, working to improve the school’s learning and living environment, and strengthening students’ sense of belonging.
- Organizing and Planning Activities: The Student Council is responsible for organizing various activities, including cultural festivals, sports days, charity events, and academic competitions, thereby enriching students’ overall school experience.
- Building Campus Culture: The Student Council actively promotes a positive campus atmosphere through diverse activities and publicity campaigns, encouraging students to maintain a healthy and positive mindset in both their academic and personal lives.
- Communication with the School Administration: Serving as a liaison between the student body and the school administration, the Student Council regularly engages in dialogue with school leaders, helping to shape policies and activities that cater to student needs.
II. Election Process and Timeline
To ensure a fair, open, and transparent election process, the following timeline has been established:
1. Nomination Period (October 20, 2024 – November 5, 2024)
During this period, all eligible students may either self-nominate or be nominated by their peers to run for Student Council positions. Candidates must submit a personal résumé and a campaign statement, including their basic information, the position they are running for, their motivation for running, and their vision for the future. Candidates must also provide two letters of recommendation—one from a teacher and one from a peer or another relevant individual.
2. Qualification Review (November 6, 2024 – November 8, 2024)
The Student Council Election Committee will review all candidates’ qualifications to ensure they meet the criteria for running. The review will be based on academic performance, behavioral records, and involvement in school and extracurricular activities.
3. Campaigning and Election Activities (November 10, 2024 – November 20, 2024)
During this period, qualified candidates will have the opportunity to present their platforms and ideas to the entire school community. Campaign activities may include speeches, videos, posters, and other promotional materials. The Election Committee will support candidates in conducting their campaigns in a fair and organized manner.
4. Voting Period (November 22, 2024 – November 24, 2024)
All eligible students and faculty members will have the opportunity to vote. 5. Results Announcement and Inauguration Ceremony (December 1, 2024)
The election results will be announced on the school’s official website and bulletin boards. The newly elected members of the Student Council will be inaugurated during a formal ceremony, and they will immediately begin their duties for the upcoming year.
III. Eligibility and Requirements for Candidates
To ensure that Student Council members have the necessary responsibility and leadership skills, the following criteria must be met by all candidates:
- Strong Academic Performance: Candidates must have maintained a GPA of no less than 3.0 in the previous semester and must not have any failing grades. Strong academic performance demonstrates the ability to balance Student Council responsibilities with academic demands.
- Good Behavioral Record: Candidates must have a clean behavioral record, with no serious violations of school rules. As representatives of the student body, Student Council members are expected to lead by example.

- Public Relations Director: Leads the publicity efforts of the Student Council, developing promotional campaigns for events through posters, videos, and social media platforms.
- External Relations Director: Responsible for liaising with external organizations, schools, and institutions, facilitating partnerships, and expanding the school’s social impact.
V. Fairness and Transparency in the Election
To ensure fairness, transparency, and integrity in this election, the following measures will be implemented:
- Independent Election Committee: An independent Student Council Election Committee, comprising teacher representatives, student representatives, and administrative staff, has been established to oversee the entire election process and ensure its legality and fairness.
- Open Election Process: All candidates and the voting process will be made public within the school community. The Election Committee will supervise the entire process to prevent any form of misconduct.
